Student Research Training Program
ZJU-UIUC Institute Hongwei Wang
Training Manipulator: EMG Signal Recognition and Its ML-Based Application
  • Implemented a module to gain EMG signals from testers' arms;
  • Assembled a wearable device to provide specified external forces to hands;
  • Completed a system that can extract information from EMG signal and transfer it to the device.

  • Used ultrasound wave to measure the attenuation coefficient of the human organs and tissues;
  • Implemented an algorithm model named SLD (Spectral Logarithm Difference) based on the SD (Spectral Difference) method;
  • Published an abstract as the first author to a conference, Acoustical Society of America, in San Diego.

  • Using Deep Learning to Build Turbulence Modeling;
  • Compared several network models and applied them respectively onto the turbulence model dataset.

  • Using CST (a 3D EM simulation and analysis software) to simulate and explore EMI and EMC problems.

AI Dance Teacher: Skeleton Detection on Jetson Nano

ECE 445 Senior Design:
  • Applied and Modified an OpenPose model to detect testers' skeleton;
  • Designed and Developed a wearable device with self-making PCB;
  • Realized wireless communication between Jetson Nano and the wearable device through Bluetooth.

ECE 391 Final Project:
  • Designed and developed a self-defined Operating System (simplified version of Linux), including input-output semantics, synchronization, interrupts, multitasking, virtualization of resources, 3 terminals, and file systems, etc.

FPGA Programming in SystemVerilog

ECE 385 Final Project:
  • Used FPGA to develop a game, named 2-player Bomberman in SystemVerilog;
  • Realized multiplayer mode and the support of the mouse protocal and sound effect;
  • Mastered the use of SystemVerilog, Quartus Prime and digital systems.
